The programme is directed by Consultants in Emergency Medicine from St Vincent’s University Hospital Dublin and is supported by a faculty of other Consultants in Emergency Medicine.  It is intended for doctors who have just started working in Emergency Departments in Ireland.

Emergency Medicine is a challenging specialty but one which provides unique opportunities for learning.  Many doctors find the job daunting in the first few months so this one day programme will aim to improve the confidence and clinical competence of doctors knew to the specialty of Emergency Medicine.

The programme consists of a series of lectures on the more common problems that present to an Emergency Department. It also focuses on areas which are commonly associated with clinical incidents in the Emergency Department setting. An afternoon session provides opportunities to update on the more commonly used skills in the Emergency Department.
